Antarctica- Last Stop in Buenos Aires and Ushuaia

FAVORITE Sightseeing Stop - Cementerio de la Recoleta

One claim to fame for this cemetery is that Eva Peron is buried here.

An additional stop on the city tour included a visit to the El Zanjon de Granados Museum. This home from the 1700’s has been renovated to showcase the many changes over the centuries.

Ceiling of first floor of the structure.

The Hotel Alvear Art treated us to delicious 😋 treats and snacks.

Notice the dulce de leche desserts.

TUESDAY Adventure- Off to Ushuaia
Wake-up call came in at 3:19 am.
Off to the airport for a 3 1/2 flight ✈️. Sadly, our plane was delayed for almost two hours.

A quick ride on a catamaran for lunch and a little sightseeing in the channel.

Sea lions 🦭 and a sea elephant.

#upgrade!! We were bumped out of the crew cabins to Room 305 and….. were given our own rooms

Ushuaia is at the foothills of the Andes Mountains

Calm waters as we head to the Drake Passage.

Shout-out to Elise, Jonathan, Braelyn, Sam, Lillian, and Lily-the food has been absolutely fantastic on the ship. At every meal we are given to menus. On the left side are the dishes that are served every day, but on the right side of the menu, there are new foods and new dishes to try. The portion sizes are not too big so I can always have room for dessert. There are also little cafés and bistro’s on the ship so you could potentially get something to drink or a snack to eat any time during the day. They also serve high tea at 4 o’clock each day.

Shout-out to Brody- no Netflix for me on this ship. They do have an in-house TV selection with a handful of movies. Most of the time I am outside my cabin, listening to lectures or doing activities with other guests.

Shout-out to Dom- I think I was the most nervous about being motion sick. Yesterday I would guess that half of the guests were experiencing some motion sickness. A lot of them were vomiting. I feel very fortunate that I did not have any problems. In fact, I felt great.

Shout-out to Sonny- there is a long tradition in Antarctica history, that learning lectures on just about any topic are given daily. The focus on this expedition is around the Southern Ocean, the discovery of Antarctica, and its wildlife. Much of the history I knew, but it’s always good to have that reinforcement. We learned a lot about krill, which is the basis for this unique food chain and environment
